сүрөттөмө :
Komuz is a traditional Kyrgyz plucked string instrument. It is made from fruit and coniferous woods (apricot, walnut, juniper, etc.).
The main parts of the komuz: head, body, resonating part (chara), neck (moyun), soundboard (kapkak), bridge (kutkun), bottom support (tepkeq), three pegs, and three strings.
Craftsmen shape the instrument using special tools (axe, knife, chisel, etc.). Strings are attached with leather cords or straps, and tuning defines the sound. The quality of sound depends on the density and structure of the wood.
The sound of the komuz resonates differently depending on the yurt or room acoustics. The choice and processing of wood are key in producing the instrument’s distinctive timbre.
