Basmaiyl is a harness element used to secure the saddle (unaа) on a horse. It is usually made from specially braided leather straps, with metal rings or buckles (made of copper, bronze, iron, etc.) attached to both ends.
When fastened to the horse, a thin strap is tied to the upper ring, and a small padded piece (körpöchö bastyrgych) is attached to the basmayyl to prevent chafing and provide comfort.
